Job description

Team One Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator in the Traverse City area. In this position, the candidate is responsible for generating and maintaining external mortgage business from various referral sources such as realtors and educating them about the features and benefits of Team One Mortgage Financing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and maintain external mortgage business from various referral sources, such as realtors.
  • Maintain active call schedule for the purposes of educating targeted business sources regarding the features and benefits of Team One Mortgage Financing.
  • Maintain awareness of competitorsโ€™ rates and make product/program recommendations as needed to enhance market share.
  • Adhere to all credit and documentation requirements as directed by the Credit Union, its investors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Possess proficient knowledge of Secondary Market Underwriting Guidelines and requirements for private mortgage insurance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of government loan products available through Neighborhood Mortgage Solutions.
  • Provide training support and mentoring for other staff, conduct product training for branch staff as necessary.
  • Assist with departmental compliance, ensuring consistency by adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Manage loans in pipeline from origination to closing, ensure processor has all required documentation, and keep the member informed on the status of application.
  • Coordinate and attend mortgage closings at title company.
  • Demonstrate Proficient knowledge of Fannie Mae Underwriting Guidelines and requirements for private mortgage insurance.
  • Promote and demonstrate all ACH and electronic services, including eโ€‘sign and electronic loan payments.
  • Nurture member relationships to achieve success as the memberโ€™s primary financial institution.
  • Maintain communication with all staff and demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Identify member needs and support the sales process by being proactive in referring products and services.
Qualifications
  • Twoโ€‘year degree in finance or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of mortgage, sales, or other relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of financial products and regulations.
  • Ability to explain mortgage options clearly and build client trust.
  • Competency in calculating income, debt ratios, and loan terms.
  • High level of trustworthiness
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of the real estate market.
  • Certified Mortgage Advisor (CMA) or other industry credentials.
