We are seeking new team members for our "Assistant Technician Position" in Lake Hopatcong. Your role will support our Lead Technicians and Service Department, as well as the entire marine effort to ensure boaters' have a safe and enjoyable time on the water.
In your role you will work closely with technicians; helping properly repair and maintain boats for our service guests and our fleet of boats. The candidates for this role will have the desire to learn marine and engine repair skills. You will need a strong emphasis on energy care, quality and satisfaction in work well done. The work is indoors and outdoors in seasonal weather around the marina and on the water. An interest in things mechanical and boating is important.
This is a great role to advance and or learn marine repair and maintenance and supporting skills, as well as an opportunity to advance in the field with us. You will receive significant support and training regarding mechanics, marine systems, boat handling skills, customer service, and numerous other skills to operate in the marine environment. Working in marina environment is unlike other roles. Some responsibilities,
  • Mechanical ability to utilize tools to remove and replace parts and perform basic maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Changing simple mechanical parts, batteries, spark plugs, filters, propellers, and similar under supervision and ultimately independently.
  • Basic maintenance projects including oil changes, fluids exchanges, and similar under supervision and ultimately independently.
  • Cleaning, buffing, bottom painting of fiberglass and aluminum boats.
  • Moving, hauling, launching, blocking, trailering of boats under supervision of others and ultimately independently.
  • Cleaning and organization skills for maintaining boats, including awareness and precaution to keep boats clean.
  • Ability to strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow strategies, policies and procedures as directed.
  • Reporting of missing or low inventory or shortages of materials.
  • Complete assigned work: always seeking to understand expectations of work and follow through.
  • Complete and submit work recorders, notes, changes in work and report to technician and managers.
  • Learn new techniques, procedures, and how to proactively identify problems.
  • Ensure work area, tools and equipment are maintained and in good repair and in proper condition after all work.
  • Use and maintain company vehicles and equipment to the highest standard.

Requirements
  • Must have basic mechanical and technical skills and awareness.
  • Automotive experience adequate. Marine/boat service experience preferred.
  • Valid clean automobile driver's license.
  • NJ Boating certificate
  • Boating experience of 2 years or greater
  • Good health and great physical mobility
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen.
  • Work indoors and out in various weather conditions.
  • Mon-Fri schedule approximately 8:30a-5:30p with some overtime and occasional Saturday.

Your starting compensation varies based on your skills, ability, and experience; the starting rate ranges from $18-$23 per hour or equivalently $40,000-$50,000 per year. Overtime and incentives are available. Advancement and increases are available and are encouraged! We are seeking full-time year-round applicants available to work forty hours Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime.

Experience on and around boats is terrific and will allow you easier learning curve and faster advancement, although, boating experience is not always required as we have trained many teammates new to boating who are now essential parts of our team.
