Position Overview

Texas Sea Grant is seeking a motivated student worker to support our Communications team as a generalist with a strong interest in video production and editing. This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented student who enjoys storytelling across multiple platforms and wants hands-on experience in science communication, research communication, marketing and campaigns, and digital media.


Must be enrolled at Texas A&M University-College Station for the 2026 - 2027 academic year.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with video production, including editing and post-production
  • Edit both short- and long-form video content for storytelling, education, and outreach campaigns
  • Edit and clean audio for video projects, interviews, and podcast episodes
  • Assist with podcast production, including audio editing, assembling episodes, adding music/transitions, and preparing files for publishing
  • Maintain a structured digital library of raw footage, b-roll, audio files, and finalized assets for team-wide use
  • Collaborate with the communications team to align video, audio, and podcast content with strategic campaigns (e.g., Texas Seafood Trail)
  • Assist with writing articles, blog posts, and other web content to support communications efforts
  • Help ensure content is accessible and aligned with best practices (e.g., captions, transcripts, plain language)
  • Support development and execution of communications campaigns, including content creation across platforms
  • Assist with creation of multimedia content for web, social media, newsletters, and presentations
  • Assist with website updates and digital content organization
  • Support communications campaigns and general team needs as assigned


Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Current student in communications, journalism, marketing, media production, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in video editing, audio production, and multimedia storytelling
  • Experience editing audio (e.g., interviews, voiceovers, podcast episodes)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, or similar tools) preferred
  • Understanding of basic file organization and digital asset management practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in environmental, coastal, or marine topics is a plus
