LSU School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is currently seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2 at our New Orleans location. Minimum Qualifications No experience or training required

Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties and Other Information Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to: Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients Maintain and stock cabinet Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques Chart patients according to LSU SD systems (Axium Computer knowledge) Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student Check inventory and order supplies when needed. Knowledgeable of computers.

Focusing on Customers: The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided. Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to comply with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws.

Appointment Type: Classified Probational Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group May be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined by department. Work Location: 1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119 Compensation: This is a Civil Service Position.

There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for the Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 for the Dental Assistant 1 title with an additional $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification and or additional $1.50 for EDDA (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
