Walworth Cellars is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily operations, guide team performance, and provide a curated shopping experience for every guest. This is a hands-on leadership role that supports the Store Manager and steps in as Manager-on-Duty as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily store operations, including staffing, inventory, merchandising, and scheduling
  • Lead and mentor team members, ensuring a welcoming and knowledgeable in-store experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and act as a trusted product expert-recommending wine, spirits, and pairings with confidence
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members
  • Maintain store cleanliness and merchandising standards, including stocking and facing shelves, organizing displays, and keeping the sales floor pristine
  • Manage point-of-sale operations, including handling transactions, refunds, and shift reporting
  • Assist in ordering and receiving inventory, prioritizing cost-effective deals and seasonal trends
  • Support in creating impactful product displays based on seasonality, sales data, and margin opportunity
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) in the Store Manager's absence
  • Monitor store profitability by managing labor, preventing shrink, and promoting high-margin products
  • Enforce safety and compliance protocols, including proper alcohol sales procedures and loss prevention
  • Serve as a resource for both team and customers with deep product knowledge of wines, liquors, and specialty beverages
  • Address operational concerns, customer issues, and store needs promptly and professionally
  • Perform end-of-shift procedures including paperwork, cash reconciliation, and safe balancing

Qualifications

Retail or hospitality leadership experience preferred-liquor, grocery, or specialty retail is a plus

Strong communication and coaching skills

Passion for customer service and an interest in beverage products

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Must be 21+ with a valid ID

High school diploma or GED required
