Imagine a career that not only allows you to assist others in overcoming communication and swallowing challenges but also empowers them to reclaim their voices and confidence. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the energetic and evolving city of Pittsburgh, your role extends beyond therapy; you will unlock potential and foster genuine connections across all ages, from eager toddlers exploring their first sounds to seniors seeking independence.
This unique position offers the chance to engage with diverse populations in an environment that balances outpatient therapy with opportunities for inpatient support. Whether your passion lies in enhancing pediatric language skills, addressing adult neurogenic communication issues, or helping the elderly navigate cognitive challenges, you will find an enriching and flexible atmosphere that facilitates your professional growth.
Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics utilizing standardized assessment tools and observational methods.
  • Create individualized treatment strategies tailored to meet both immediate and enduring communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
  • Deliver focused, one-on-one speech therapy interventions targeting communication, language development, fluency, voice, and swallowing issues.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to develop integrated care plans.
  • Educate patients and families to facilitate progress beyond the clinical environment.
  • Provide occasional inpatient evaluations and therapy sessions to ensure seamless care throughout the patient journey.
  • Maintain precise documentation that aligns with state, federal, and institutional policies.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development through continuous education and teamwork with peers.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not currently certified by ASHA.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Essential Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches applicable across varied age groups, coupled with a sound understanding of both developmental and acquired communications disorders.
  • Superb communication skills that foster positive interactions with patients, their families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to modify therapy methods to align with diverse cultural and linguistic requirements.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills paired with clinical reasoning.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation practices.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary package based on your experience.
  • Flexibility in scheduling allowing for a healthy work-life balance and diverse patient caseloads.
  • Opportunities to specialize in various areas such as pediatrics, adult neurological rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) plus holiday compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options available.
  • Support for continuing education and professional growth initiatives.
  • A collaborative, team-centric environment dedicated to providing exceptional care and nurturing lifelong learning.

A Journey That Shapes Your Career and Others' Lives
In this position, you will do more than just deliver therapy - you'll inspire a community-focused mission to restore voices, enhance communication, and spark joy through the fundamental human connection of understanding.
As part of a compassionate family of clinicians, you will thrive in a culture that values teamwork over competition. Every patient's journey is unique; we will rely on your expertise to help shape their narrative.
Why Pittsburgh is the Right Place for You
Pittsburgh offers a captivating combination of vibrant culture and welcoming community. Known as the Steel City, it is celebrated for its rich history and diverse economy. With its picturesque riverfronts, lush parks, and iconic skyline, it's an ideal spot for those who appreciate both urban amenities and natural beauty.
Weekends in Pittsburgh can be spent exploring the eclectic neighborhoods, where local festivals, art exhibitions, and farmer's markets abound. Food enthusiasts can indulge in everything from artisanal burgers to award-winning pepperoni rolls, while outdoor adventurers find solace at scenic parks like Frick and Schenley.
The city pulses with creativity through its art scene. Mosaics of murals adorn many buildings, while music swells from lively venues featuring local musicians. And for professionals, the benefits extend beyond lifestyle-from no state income tax to a manageable cost of living, this is a community where careers flourish amidst robust healthcare growth.
Whether you're an emerging professional or a seasoned clinician looking to make an impact, Pittsburgh provides the opportunity for both personal and professional development.
Your Ideal Candidate
We are on the lookout for a Speech Language Pathologist who is motivated by both patient outcomes and empathy. You are the kind of professional who visualizes the potential of a quiet child, who hears the hesitant speech of a stroke survivor and feels their resolve.
Perhaps you're a pediatric expert interested in expanding into adult therapies, or a clinician specializing in neuro rehab eager to enrich your practice with early interventions.
Your passion and readiness to make a difference will be met with open arms.
Let's Inspire Transformation Together
If you understand that speech is much more than mere sounds and that therapy transcends beyond tasks-if you value building trust alongside setting goals and find as much importance in laughter as in language-this could be the path that defines your professional journey.
Join us in a mission that celebrates communication and connection, and embrace the courage it takes to begin anew. Apply today to lend your voice to our dynamic team and empower others to discover their own.
