Dewberry has a unique opportunity for a Senior Civil CAD Designer to join our Civil/Land Development Group in our Louisville, CO office by supporting the Civil CAD Design Manager and the Civil Design team by working with engineers, project managers, and other professionals. Through experienced leadership, the ideal candidate will take on many of the more complex tasks currently completed by the CAD Design Manager, to better enable their increased focus on training for a passionate and skilled group of young designers.

This position will require completing higher level tasks with an emphasis on design for residential, multi-family, commercial, and mixed‑use projects. Work activities may include grading, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare base files, plan exhibits, construction documentation and detailed design drawings for an array of land development and civil engineering projects.
  • Provide drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD 3D drawings that compile to create a set of construction drawings ready for agency approval.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and applicable members of the greater Project Delivery Team (architects, landscape architects, traffic consultants, etc.) to deliver successful projects.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to various municipalities specifications and standards.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD standards across the Civil/Land Development Group.
  • Assist with the direct oversight and staff management of junior designers by providing daily mentoring and quality reviews to ensure timely and accurate submittals.
  • Delegate and schedule less complex assignments with junior designers. The goal is to ensure that less complex design items are matched to the designer's skills, while more complex assignments remain with senior design staff.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Associate degree in drafting or engineering technology.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a CADD designer (AutoCAD Civil 3D) with civil design, and specifically, land development experience.
  • Strong working experience with current versions of AutoCAD and the Civil 3D package to create surfaces, alignments and profiles.
  • High attention to detail, good organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for quality and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Have the ability and vision to take a project from early stages planning to final approved plans.
  • Understanding a variety of land development design concepts, practices and procedures including drainage, earthwork, streets and utilities and having the knowledge to correctly implement these features of the project.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast‑paced, fluid working environment.
