Job description

Overview

Pathology Lab Assistant will assist the Lab Manager with specimen processing, quality assurance on each pathology ensuring receipt and accessioning specimens.

The schedule for this position is

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day path lab operations with commitment to providing the highest quality service to patients.
  • Daily confirmation of receipt and accessioning specimens.
  • Maintain quality control to ensure reliability of processing procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information and all other pertinent data found on laboratory request forms.
  • Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information etc. and works with clinical staff to resolve them.
  • Accurately enters patient information into laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Communicate to manager to maintain sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with practice staff.
  • Provide advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, interpretation/consultation, verification of specimen quality.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and APDerm.
  • Maintains a ONETeam mindset using the foundation of our core values, the 3Ps: Positivity, Productivity, and Professionalism.
  • Support APDerm's mission and culture of high-quality standards by carrying out applicable policies, procedures and established industry standards, laws and regulations.   • Complete all assigned required training by the deadline including, but not limited the Code of Conduct, Privacy & Data Security, and OSHA.
Qualifications
  • HS degree and BA preferred. 
  • Accuracy and close attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical judgement.
  • Visual acuity (including color discrimination) to distinguish fine detail.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to triage and prioritize.

The salary for this role will range from USD $19.83 to 26.91 per hour based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to years of experience, location, relevant skills, training, education, etc. Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives.
