Title: Language Innovation and Futures in TESOL Lab Manager

Hours per week: 19

Position Summary:

The Language Innovation and Futures in TESOL (LIFT) Lab serves as an Ed Tech Makerspace for language educators. TESOL faculty and students use AI agents to assist in the creation of educational technology applications, interactive websites, and pedagogical materials for English language learning and teaching. The LIFT Lab Tutor maintains LIFT Lab hardware and software accounts, oversees the checkout and return of lab equipment, serves as a first-line resource for troubleshooting technical issues as they arise, and trains TESOL student and faculty on agentic AI use. They will also develop example applications and instructional materials that demonstrate AI-assisted language learning tools for use in courses and lab activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain LIFT Lab hardware inventory and manage software accounts and licenses, including coordinating with IT services as needed

Oversee the checkout and return of lab equipment, keeping accurate records

Serve as first-line support for troubleshooting technical issues with lab devices and software

Develop example applications and instructional materials demonstrating AI-assisted language learning tools

Support faculty and students in using AI agents to build interactive websites, EdTech applications, and pedagogical materials

Oversee day-to-day lab operations to ensure a functional and accessible makerspace environment

Engage in ongoing training and develop proficiency in AI agentic workflows as applied to language education contexts

Promoting student and faculty use of the LIFT lab by delivering presentations in student classes and faculty meetings

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with AI tools and basic troubleshooting of computer hardware and software

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with faculty and peers

Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

Completed TESOL 240 and TESOL 310

Majoring in TESOL or TESOL Education

Preferred Qualifications

Prior tutoring, teaching, or training experience

Experience building websites, apps, or instructional materials

Experience with agentic AI platforms (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools)

Additional Information

Ideal candidates will be able to commit to working in the LIFT Lab for a full academic year (Fall 2026 through Spring 2027)

Applicants selected for interviews should be prepared to provide evidence of initiatives they have taken to use AI for developing learning and teaching tools
