General Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Keno Manager, the Lead Cashier oversees the day-to-day operation of the Keno personnel on the shift. The Lead Cashier verifies and approves winnings for payouts. Maintains accountability for the impress bank and is the first line for handling guest disputes. Responsible for the operations of the Sportsbook department during assigned shift including but no limited to approving or denying wagers from customers, scheduling of staff, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides Clearly Superior Customer Service to all internal and external customers
  • Writes Keno tickets through a computerized Keno System, calls Keno games, marks numbers called and verifies draw results before entering into the system
  • Maintains and is responsible for individually assigned cash drawer/bank and its balance
  • Ensures the operation of the Keno area is efficient and in accordance with department’s the policies and procedures, the Tribal-State Compact
  • Ensures compliance with all Class III gaming regulations
  • Assists the Keno Manager in the development of policy and procedure manuals for Keno operations
  • Monitors said manuals in an effort to quickly handle disputes and train new personnel
  • May assist the manager in developing schedules and various aspects of monitoring employee performance
  • Keeps management informed relative to customer and employee relations
  • Rechecks tickets upon request
  • Responsible for opening and closing games including the completion of required reports
  • Pays and writes keno tickets
  • Responsible for cash transactions during assigned shift
  • Responsible for ensuring all transactions are performed according the company policies and procedures
  • Responsible to monitor all monies being wagered
  • Approve and deny wagers from guests in conjunction with the Risk and Trading team

  • Report issues and discrepancies to management immediately
  • Assists with training, development, measuring performance, discipling, and/or scheduling department staff as assigned
  • Responsible for placing wagers as requested by guests and verifying and processing winning tickets
  • Properly processes any voided wagers
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • Effectively and consistently communicates sports betting rules and provides betting assistance to guests in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Enforces company standard operating procedures
  • Consistently maintains visibility in guest areas and immediately responds to any guest questions and/or concerns
  • Aware of popular lines and odds in the Sportsbook
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Safeguards the companies confidential and privileged information that is obtained as a result of normal working procedures

Secondary Functions:

  • Works with the department’s employees to maintain a clean and friendly Sportsbook/Keno area
  • Works with the department manager to manage promotions and present an entertaining atmosphere for the guests
  • Advises Keno Manager on the daily operation of the Keno Department
  • Performs in a professional manner while actively practicing the Customer Service Standards
  • Assists in stocking supplies for the department

Job Conditions:

Other working conditions may include working alone or could include working in an office with frequent interruptions. Vast majority of schedule shift will be spent on the gaming floor with frequent interruptions. May have access to other management offices as needed to perform duties, as assigned by manager. Conditions include working in a crowded, noisy, smoke-filled environment. Guest interactions may become stressful. Conditions will also include frequent interruptions and working evenings, weekends and holidays, including working a rotating schedule.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 lbs. while standing, twisting, or bending. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to work evenings based on a rotating schedule.
