Job Summary:The Department of Internal Medicine is currently recruiting a full-time Pulmonary / Critical Care Physician to join a dynamic team delivering care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The position includes a combination of critical care, inpatient and outpatient pulmonary consults, and academic teaching responsibilities. The distribution of pulmonary and critical care will be tailored to the candidate's interests and aligned with departmental needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Rounding on the inpatient pulmonary service, including bronchoscopy and other procedures.
Outpatient pulmonary clinics.
Dedicated time rounding in the ICU, as well as procedures and to the response and resuscitation of critically ill patients.
Nights shared equally on a rotating schedule.
Supervision and teaching of residents and medical students from varied specialties.
EPIC EMR system.
The Physician is responsible for administering and interpreting all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations within the inpatient and/or outpatient setting.

Ability to manage complex, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced, public hospital environment.
Strong collaboration skills in multi-disciplinary teams.
Proven expertise in critical care protocols, assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.
Compassionate communication skills for end-of-life discussions, prognosis counseling, and patient-centered care.
Self-motivated, with a passion for teaching and community outreach.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be comfortable working independently and in multi-disciplinary teams within a large public/county facility treating high acuity patients with complex medical diagnoses.
Must be able to demonstrate a high-level working knowledge in the area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area.
Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and oral communication skills.
Must be self-directed and take the initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach.
Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior such as end-of-life decisions, advance directives, estimating prognosis, and counseling of patients and their families
Duties and Essential Job Functions:Coordinates multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.
Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.
Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Health.
Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient-centered and patient-valued behavior.
Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
Supports academic, educational, and research endeavors.
Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Health. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
Serves as a resource for the community.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Education:Current Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Residency training in Internal Medicine; fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas
Board Certification or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine.
