Position Summary:
The Inventory Planner is responsible for monitoring inventory levels and for ordering and forecasting materials to replenish those inventory levels. In addition, the Inventory Planner deals with Supply Center Managers and vendors daily, leveraging great organizational and supplier relations skills.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Establish effective relationships with the operations managers at all Supply Centers assigned to them, and work closely with them to address any materials questions they have
  • Manage inventory levels by supply center based on stocking plan and monitoring demand on assigned businesses
  • Use of financial and quantitative information to optimize results and meet financial commitments
  • Manage integrity of information related to inventory levels (Surplus/Dead/Stocked and Non-Stocked)
  • Serve and protect all internal and external customer base with Inventory related subjects
  • Assist in strategic initiatives by partnering with the Sourcing team and/or Product Management to build an optimal Inventory Plan that best serves the business
  • Place daily orders from multiple Supply Centers (35-40 depending on region)
  • Ensure we are following budgeted Stocking Plan guidance
  • Maintain and build Supply Center/ROVP/RSVP relations, these contacts are vital
  • Report on backorders/late shipments and work with sourcing to resolve any ongoing issues
  • Work closely with engineering/sourcing/marketing on new product launches, ensuring that all the parts are in place for testing and launch dates
  • Maintain forecasts and ordering parameters for all assigned product categories

Required Education, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience using all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Communication skills to express ideas and concepts verbally, visually and in writing
  • Planning and organization to set targets / milestones and follow through on commitments
  • Familiarity with Vinyl Siding/ Metal/ Roofing and related building products
  • Experience working within an ERP package
  • APICS certification (Preferred)
  • Familiarity With Microsoft IS2/SQL language and query building (Preferred)
