Salary Range: $130,000.00 To $140,000.00 Annually

The Senior Director – Accounting Services serves as a Senior Director level professional. Responsibilities include oversight of financial statements, i.e. balance sheets, payroll, invoices, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Duties include directing Accounting staff and department operations, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting in conjunction with the CFO. This position offers a competitive benefits package. The Jewish Community Center (JCC) is an equal opportunity employer (EOE).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee the accounting function, ensuring systems are efficient. Manage and maintain all tax documents as well as tax and other document deadlines and ensure that work is completed correctly
  • Reconcile accounts on a monthly and annual basis including all benefits and prepare required journal entries related to reconciliation
  • Coordinate monthly close as well as assist CFO & Associate Director in preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate annual financial & 403B audit with outside accounting firm
  • Supervise Accounting staff to include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and accounting side of payroll
  • Maintain product, program, instance codes pricing and other accounting related items in Avocado
  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist Gift shop & Pro Shop with annual inventory
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and capable of conveying these qualities to ensure success of the team.
  • Must be able to work effectively with agency staff, accounting software, and IT-support software.
  • Extend help, guidance, communication and follow up on accounting and membership system software
  • Attend monthly Finance Committee Meeting and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Offer and confirm completion of all required and desired training of professionals in department.
  • Must be capable of finalizing projects and completing them at the 100% level.
REQUIRED EXERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • In depth understanding of nonprofit accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • 10+ years proven accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Accounting Software
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce and Concur
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • This position requires independent judgment, initiative and advanced administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various teams.
  • A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • The person in the position is expected to be innovative, imaginative and provide a positive role model for members and staff.

It is expected that the Senior Director – Accounting Services will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
