Job description

Summary

The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and detail-oriented accounting professional with strong hospitality experience and a solid understanding of GAAP. They bring hands-on experience managing month-end close and financial reporting in a large, full-service, multi-property environment, with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure. This individual is proactive, organized, and collaborative, able to partner effectively with operations while maintaining strong financial controls and reporting integrity.


Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

• Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.

• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP across multiple properties.

• Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly financial results.

• Support operational leadership by providing analysis on performance metrics, margins, cost management, and inventory controls.

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, identifying key drivers impacting financial results.

• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with the preparation and coordination of external audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency.

• Function as the main point of contact for financial inquiries from internal teams and external partners

• Assist in mentoring and developing junior accounting staff.

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to established policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Internal Relationships: Reports to Controller.


External Relationships: Vendors, Business Partners and Consultants.


Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in hospitality industry management.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting practices.

• Experience working in a large property hospitality environment.

• Proficiency with ERP accounting software (InforSun, EPM preferred)

• Solid understanding of financial statements, hospitality KPI’s, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

• Previous experience with PMS/POS systems (e.g. Opera, Agilysys, Jonas, SpaSoft)

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to work well under pressure and handle adverse situations.

• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.


Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
