Inventory Control Lead – Ground Beef Department
 
Reports to the Inventory Control Supervisor
The position of Inventory Control Lead person responsible for keeping inventory on all items related to packaging.  Responsible to monitor and manage our facility’s supply, storage, and tracking of packaging material.  The Inventory Control Lead is an important role since the efficient handling of the company products and supplies is critical for the attainment of business goals. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate incoming packaging materials and direct the loader/unloaders as to what is needed in house.
  • Verify physical counts (identify variances from previous day)
  • Report Tote inventory every morning and schedule with vendor required needs.  Work with purchasing assistant to have purchase order issued.
  • Follow up on tote deliveries and organize unloading needs.
  • Complete daily physical inventory each morning.
  • Report Box inventory by end of shift
  • Communicate to the purchasing assistant what orders are needed from offsite warehouse daily.
  • Follow up with purchasing assistant to ensure incoming trailers are on time for needs of the plant.
  • Analyze daily orders to assist purchasing assistants with set up for packaging needs for production – daily
  • Manage items taken out of the upstairs packaging area (controlling partials) – daily
  • Review with team members housekeeping and help maintain storage areas.
  • Ensure all packaging (FAB, Offal, GB) has been received in SAP correctly.
  • Work on organization based on the 5S model and coordinate and plan improvements.
  • Cross over with supervisor and support needs of the department.
  • Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures for dry goods and packaging materials.
  • Ensure the quality of packaging products on incoming trailers and ensure trailer inspection report is being filled out and filed.
  • Monitor the levels of dry goods and packaging materials daily to identify any possible shortages. Report any issues that arise to supervisor as well as communicate with purchasing assistants to follow up with deliveries and needs of the plant.
  • Work with the purchasing clerks to tie out inventories and assist as needed with training and day to day needs of the purchasing departments.
  • Monitor safety procedures of team members.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Working area may be wet and slippery
  • Work area maintains a temperature at or below 45 degrees to insure the consistency of product
  • Must be able to work long hours as well as Saturday and Sunday
Special Skills
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related software programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel and SAP
  • Prior experience in inventory
  • Knowledge of data analysis
  • Ability to track inventory and create reports
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Outstanding communications skills
