Job description

Green Acres Foundation is seeking an organized, self-motivated Summer Human Resources Assistant who is eager to gain meaningful experience and exposure in the field of Human Resources.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Summer Human Resources Assistant will work closely with the HR team on a variety of projects that support both employees and organizational goals. This role provides a dynamic, hands-on experience in Human Resources, with opportunities to contribute to several key initiatives throughout the summer.

This is a temporary summer position with an anticipated end date of August 29, 2026

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate employee records and filing systems
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of the monthly employee newsletter
  • Support the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Conduct pre-screening of applicants
  • Perform reference checks
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support
  • Assist with various HR projects and tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must meet eligibility requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Program:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been granted
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Education in Human Resources or a related field is considered an asset

Required Skills:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in a multi-storey building and lift/carry up to 10 kg
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Record Check
