RN Assistant Resident Care Director (SALSA Designee) Job Summary
The RN Assistant Resident Care Director (SALSA Designee) is responsible for assisting the Resident Care Director with the overall implementation, delivery and coordination of Resident Care services at the community.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage nursing and assisted living aide services rendered to clients by direct service staff.
  • Assist in supervising the medication program, activity in medication room and assisting the residents with self-administration of their medication and administering medication per MD.
  • Maintain positive relations with residents, families and physicians.
  • Respond to significant incidents and/or changes in the residents needs and communicate changes to the Executive Director/Resident Services Director/Physician.
  • Assist in the completion of resident assessments and services plans.
  • Assist with direct care as needed.
  • Assist in the training of assisted living staff and participates in orientation of new staff.
  • Attend, participates in and lead as assigned scheduled in-service programs, training programs and staff meetings.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing of Resident Services Assistants and Resident Medication Assistants as needed.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.
  • Participate in the development of agency objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures concerning nursing services and the provision of assistance with activities of daily living as requested.
  • Participates in direct service staff recruitment, selection orientation and in-service education.
  • Acting Supervisor of Assisted Living Services/Resident Care Director in their absence.
  • The designee shall be available to provide relief for the SALSA as needed, including acting in the role of the On-call nurse when needed.
Qualifications:
  • A Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) who has one of the following:
    • A baccalaureate degree in nursing and a minimum of two years experience in nursing, at least one of which shall be in home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home
    • A diploma or associate's degree in nursing and at least four years clinical experience in nursing within the past ten years, at least one of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home.
    • The ability to analyze situations, make sound decisions, and provide appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
    • Experience working with elders or disabled individuals as well as demonstrated supervisory and management skills.
    • Have a demonstrated interest in the elderly and are knowledgeable of serving their needs.
