Who we're looking for

Toyota'sHazmat Transportation & Compliance Team is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedHazmat Analyst.

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement operational compliance initiatives to support all Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) locations to meet or exceed hazmat regulations. This role will establish the hazmat program by engaging in cross-functional collaborative environments and overseeing the application of corporate hazmat transportation strategies (policies, procedures, audits, training, etc.) within assigned regions.

Reporting to the Hazmat Transportation & Compliance Manager, the person in this role will support the objective to develop and implement hazmat policies, programs, and training, ensuring Toyota's regulatory compliance and risk mitigation through facility audits to avoid business interruptions.

What you'll be doing

  • Determine the applicability of state, federal, and international regulations (IMDG, ICAO/IATA, DOT, NOM, TDG), TMC requirements, and industry best practice to standardize compliant hazardous materials transportation policies.

  • Monitor rapidly changing hazardous material regulations and adapt Toyota policies in the shifting regulatory landscape.

  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of Hazardous Materials Compliance processes, tools, and standards for all sites within assigned regions. Nemawashi with other regional analysts to ensure consistency and standardization.

  • Identify organizational risk and provide stability with hazmat shipping processes.

  • Oversee Root Cause and Corrective Action(s) identification and implementation by sites, 3rd parties, and suppliers/vendors to address regional incident or concerns submitted for correction.

  • Support communication, training, and government actions (State, Federal, and International) on compliance manners (e.g., special permits, compliance investigations).

  • Develop & implement policies, programs, and procedures for the management of hazardous materials throughout Toyota Motor North America, including affiliates within the USA, Canada & Mexico.

  • Assist and/or lead onsite compliance audits, site support visits based on site risk or identified need(s). Report out on audit findings and work with site HMC to implement countermeasures and mitigation strategies to improve regulatory compliance enterprise wide.

  • Develop & implement training resources, content, eLearnings, and reporting capabilities to drive appropriate deployment of compliance training throughout Toyota Motor North America, including affiliates within the USA, Canada & Mexico. Provide targeted regulatory risk identification, quantification, and mitigation advice as required.

  • Support North American and international Toyota business units in hazardous materials transportation regulations.

  • Collaborate with the packaging teams to ensure all packaging meets regulatory requirements prior to part movement in the supply chain.

  • Maintain and/or Create hazmat compliance systems and tools for internal and external users.

  • Implement and standardize Key Performance Indicators (KPI) across hazmat systems and processes.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Engineering, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain/Logistics, etc. or 2+ years of experience in Hazmat Transportation or Supply Chain Operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications

  • Strong written and communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

  • Ability to work extended hours when required

Added bonus if you have

  • Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Environmental, Engineering, Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain/Logistics)

  • Knowledge of Automotive Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Manufacturing, and Service Parts Operations

  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar

  • Proficiency in Power platform components (i.e., Power Bi, Power Apps, Power Automate)

  • Experience building or applying structured compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO-aligned systems, internal governance models)
