Job description

Our Distribution group is currently looking to add a Gas Fuser to our Shallow Utilities team, based in Sherwood Park, AB.

Reporting to the Site Foreman / Superintendent, we are seeking a skilled, experienced and safety-focused Gas Fuser with hands-on experience in natural gas pipeline installation for ATCO and APEX.  This position executes the installation of natural gas pipelines and service tee's in new residential subdivisions and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install and complete main line connections and fusions in Residential Subdivisions
  • Read and interpret gas construction drawings to ensure accurate implementation
  • Install service tees, fittings and tracer wire connections
  • Conduct pressure testing on main lines and submit necessary documentation
  • Complete live gas tie-ins
  • Liaise with gas utility inspectors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with the site Foreman to plan work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure proper equipment availability
  • Coordinate material orders with the natural gas utility to ensure timely availability
  • Maintain all gas equipment and ensure calibrations are up to code
  • Develop and grow relationships with utility site representatives
  • Assist with training new gas fusion personnel

Requirements

  • ATCO Gas Fuser or Apex Utilities Fusion Certification past or present (DO NOT apply if you have never held or currently hold either of these fusion tickets - any capacity of fusing for either of these utilities is acceptable)
  • 2 years of natural gas pipe fusion work experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and industry compliance
