Assistant Graphics Designer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Assistant Graphics Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Assistant Graphics Designer, you need a solid understanding of design principles, proficiency in graphic design software, and a relevant diploma or degree in graphic design or a related field. Expertise with tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with digital asset management systems are typically required. Strong attention to detail, creativity, effective communication, and the ability to take feedback make candidates stand out. These skills are crucial for producing high-quality visuals, collaborating with teams, and meeting client or project requirements efficiently.

What does an Assistant Graphics Designer do?

An Assistant Graphics Designer supports senior designers in creating visual content for print and digital media. Their tasks often include preparing layouts, editing images, selecting colors, and assisting with design projects from concept to completion. They may also handle administrative duties such as organizing files and communicating with clients or team members. This role is ideal for those looking to gain hands-on experience in the graphic design field and develop their creative and technical skills.

Assistant Graphics Designers often juggle several projects at once, each with its own deadlines and creative requirements. Balancing priorities, adapting to different design styles, and maintaining clear communication with senior designers and clients can be challenging. Effective time management and organization are crucial to keep projects on track and ensure quality standards are met. Collaborating closely with team members and being open to feedback also helps manage workload and enhance learning in a dynamic studio environment.

About Vidsy
Vidsy is a global creative platform transforming how the world's biggest brands create video advertising across paid social.  With teams across NYC, LA, Toronto, and London, we partner with global advertisers like L'Oreal, Amazon and PepsiCo enabling them to produce creator and AI powered video advertising at scale.

The Role
If your idea of a bit of fun is popping open After Effects and having a play then you are in the right place.  As one of our superstar Designers you'll partner with our Internal Creative Team and our external Creator Community to deliver a wide range of incredible content for some of the world's best known brands - including the likes of Google, L'Oreal, Pepsi, Unilever and Warner Bros - and some of the hottest new startups too .

But this isn't your "typical" Motion Graphics role - we're looking for video natives who can get stuck in throughout our entire creative process, from coming up with concepts for brands and creating original content, to briefing our External Creators,  and polishing - or beautifying - their work prior to client review to ensure it's the very best it can be.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Collaborating with the rest of the Vidsy Team to conceptualise the latest and greatest content for social.
  • Directing our external Creator Community to create incredible social video.
  • Reviewing, editing and polishing our Creator's content to make it !
  • Reformatting content to make it relevant for different social platforms.
  • Constantly staying up to date with social trends and best practices to ensure our output is consistently excellent.
  • Create top quality videos at scale for big brands seen by millions!
Requirements
  • You're a social native - whether it's Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat! Experience in social video is a must - this stuff's in your blood
  • Ability to come up with fresh visual concepts and designs
  • Advanced skills in After Effects and Premiere as well as experience with Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • An organised and methodical approach to your work. We foster a super collaborative environment so you're not the only one who'll see those AE files!
  • Ability to meet deadlines and execute on tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work in small teams as well as work independently.
  • Ability to read briefs to the end...
Compensation & Perks
Competitive Base Salary: In-line with your experience between $50,000 and $80,000 CAD

The balance between in-office and remote work will vary depending on your team, role, and personal preferences.

We're committed to building a representative, inclusive, and super-friendly team because diverse experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds lead to better workplaces and better products. At Vidsy, we welcome everyone and do not discriminate based on race, colour, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
