Job description

The Landings Golf and Athletic Club is a private luxury residential club on Skidaway Island dedicated to providing members with an active lifestyle through resort-class amenities. Located 12 miles from historic Savannah, our Club offers members access to six championship golf courses, two marinas, 31 tennis courts, 15 pickleball courts, eight bocce courts, eight unique dining venues, five clubhouses, five swimming pools and a 52,000 sq. ft., wellness center.

Assistant Golf Professional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high visibility within the Club and play golf with members when approved by Head Golf Professional.
  • Assists daily with administrative functions such as properly checks in players, collects appropriate fees, announces tee times, schedules outside service staff on the course and handicap computer accessibility for score posting.
  • Provides golf instruction.
  • Actively involved in retail management and sales.
  • Promotes participation and assists in administering member golf tournaments
  • Actively involved in the Leadership and Execution of Golf outside operations to include pace of play and golf cart operations.
  • Fills in as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.
  • Enforces Club rules and policies.
  • Enforces USGA Rules of Golf.
  • Assures that all work is performed within the club’s safety standards
  • Attends weekly safety meetings
  • Complies with departmental grooming standards
  • Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and or holidays
  • Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures
  • The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies and to act as a role model in the adherence to policies

Assistant Golf Professional Qualifications:

  • A member of or apprentice with the Professional Golfers Association of America with experience at a private club with a high volume of play, preferred
  • Passing of PGA Players Ability Test preferred

Assistant Golf Professional Critical Skills:

  • Must be able to demonstrate solid playing skills
  • Must be willing to provide exceptional service to members and leadership to position the department to achieve the mission
  • Knowledge of golf products and merchandise
  • Knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply the USGA Rules of Golf
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks, and to deploy resources effectively in a fast-paced environment

Assistant Golf Professional Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sit, reach, grasp, talk, hear, listen, bend, twist, kneel and perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to work in a variety of outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind and rain
  • Ability to work varied shifts inclusive of evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Playing golf and/or hitting golf balls 10% of shift
