Development & Compliance Assistant
Full-Time | $80,000 + Benefits | On-Site (Office + Restaurant Locations)

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Development & Compliance Assistant to support the Director of Development in managing restaurant projects from planning through execution. This role will focus heavily on regulatory compliance, permitting, and coordination with architects, engineers, and city agencies to ensure all locations meet required standards and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Support development projects across multiple restaurant locations, ensuring timelines and compliance milestones are met
Coordinate with architects, engineers, expeditors, and contractors on plans, submissions, and approvals
Manage permitting and certification processes, including FDNY, DOB, and other applicable regulatory agencies
Track and maintain all compliance documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely renewals
Assist with plan reviews, filings, inspections, and follow-ups with city agencies
Maintain organized records of licenses, permits, and project documentation
Conduct site visits to ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and brand standards
Communicate project updates and compliance status to internal stakeholders
Support vendor coordination and ensure all third parties meet required compliance standards

Qualifications:
2–5 years of experience in development, compliance, permitting, or project coordination (restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred)
Working knowledge of NYC regulatory agencies, including FDNY and DOB processes
Experience supporting architects, engineers, or construction/project management teams
Strong understanding of permits, inspections, and certification processes
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external partners
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project tracking tools is a plus
Willingness to travel between office and restaurant locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with restaurant openings, renovations, or multi-unit operations
Familiarity with expediting processes and filing systems in NYC
Background in construction administration or facilities coordination
Knowledge of health department regulations and licensing requirements
