Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent guest service to fans attending Ohio State events

  • Schedule event staff during an assigned athletic or special event, based on deployments provided by Event Management staff

  • Verify attendance of staff and complete timesheets for events

  • Attend annual Operations Meetings for assigned sports

  • Participate in emergency drills or table top exercises produced by the Department of Public Safety

  • Provide direct supervision to assigned crew of event staff at each event

  • Ensure excellent guest service is being provided to guests by your staff

  • Act as a second level of support to event staff to resolve guest issues in your assigned area

  • Provide direct coaching and training to the staff assigned to your area

  • Ensure that the staff assigned to you comply with policies & procedures included in the Event Staff Pocket Guide/Manual

  • Scanning, counting and checking tickets at athletic contests and special events

  • Conducting security screening of guests entering our facilities

  • Provide excellent guest service to fans attending Ohio State events

  • Directing and assisting guests to their seats or to find other amenities provided inside the facility

  • Directing and assisting guests to services outside of the facility (roadways, restaurants, hotels, etc.)

  • Assist with the enforcement of NCAA, Conference, University, and Athletic Department rules and regulations

  • Recognize and check credentials, limit access to restricted areas of facilities

  • Be an expert of and an advocate for Ohio State Athletics & the Schottenstein Center

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an event staff member, or equivalent

  • Experience managing others

  • Must be able to stand on your feet for 4 hours or more, indoors and outdoors, rain or shine

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude at events at all times

  • Ability to focus on listening and satisfying our guests

  • Ability to maintain and support open communication with Event Management staff

  • An interest in working with guests and fellow staff of varying backgrounds

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving ability
