Job Summary

Colorado Law seeks a Visiting Professor for the Spring 2027 semester to teach LAWS 5223: Legal Writing II. This is a temporary appointment that will conclude at the end of the Spring 2027 semester.

Please note: the Law School is also conducting a search for a permanent Legal Writing faculty member. Applicants interested in the permanent position should apply only to the permanent position listing and indicate in their cover letter that they would be available to begin in Spring 2027 if selected. The permanent position listing is available here: https://cu.law/LW-jobs

CU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment. We are committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Who We Are
At the Colorado Law School, we are an engaged, diverse, and welcoming community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who help one another succeed. Our selective admissions process keeps our student body small, enabling our faculty, staff, alumni, and community to invest deeply in each student's success. Because we take our responsibility to educate and train future lawyers very seriously, our curriculum, research centers, and experiential learning opportunities are crafted to prepare students for success in today's changing legal environment.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Legal writing faculty members prepare lectures and discussions for classes each week, design writing projects, grade and critique several writing assignments each semester, and meet with students individually several times during the semester.

This position is expected to teach Legal Writing II, which is the second semester of the required first-year legal writing course. The first semester focuses on predictive writing, while this second semester focuses on persuasive writing.

What You Should Know

This appointment is a full semester in residence and requires the Visiting Professor to be present on campus for the entire semester. Visiting Professors typically have past experience teaching as a full-time professor in an ABA accredited law school.

This is a temporary appointment that will not last beyond the end of the spring semester of 2027. If you are interested in applying for a permanent position, please submit your application only to the permanent posting, available here: https://cu.law/LW-jobs, indicating your Spring 2027 availability in your cover letter.

What We Can Offer

The pay range for this position is $35,000-40,000 per semester, depending on the qualifications of the professor.
