We are seeking a qualified individual to lead and assist in the development of traffic signal, electrical programming details, ITS, and broadband fiber designs.

This position will be based in our Traffic/ITS Department at either our Hillsborough or Raleigh office. The role primarily involves working on NCDOT roadway/highway projects, as well as municipal streets, pedestrian facilities, and broadband fiber design projects in Virginia. Responsibilities: * Lead and assist in the development of traffic signal designs, ITS, and broadband fiber designs * Work on NCDOT roadway/highway projects, as well as municipal streets and pedestrian facilities * Thorough knowledge of NCDOT traffic signal design standards and MUTCD protocols * Perform field investigations, construction inspections, and traffic signal equipment inventories * Collaborate with clients and public agencies; occasionally participate in public meetings and presentations Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET) or similar degree * Minimum of five (5) years of progressive design experience in transportation design * Familiarity with Microstation, Open Roads, Geopack, and Corridor Modeling * Professional Engineer (PE) license required in NC or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire; registration in other states is favorable * NCDOT & VDOT design experience preferred * Strong knowledge of traffic engineering disciplines such as TIA/capacity analysis, signal system timing plans, pavement marking, and signing * Excellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and ability to manage multiple tasks * Experience in client development and project management * Experience in general project development workflow * Strong engineering analysis and judgment * Ability to adhere to project budgets and schedules * Valid driver's license and ability to drive Summit Design and Engineering is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
