Job description

A Machine Braider Specialist (also called a Braiding Machine Operator or Braider Operator) is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring braiding machines to produce highquality braided products while ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with specifications.

Job Summary

The specialist supervises the braiding process of one or more machines, ensuring that the product meets quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements. This role combines technical skills in machine operation with attention to detail, process improvement, and problemsolving.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Primary owner of braid full cleanout procedures and wearable part rebuilds

NF, FO, MW, Med

  1. Expected to be 95% on the floor to support
  2. Ensure Standardization of best practices and setups
  3. May run machines if manning gap exists in operations
  4. Drives trials/tests related to Braid projects/initiatives
  5. GEMBA multiple areas throughout the day for SWP adherence
  6. Braid RPR owner

Identifies troubled area or machine and reviews all critical components

  1. Support Braid Setups with ENG
  2. Involved on Braid focus group
  3. Assist in braid problem solving and braid scrap
  4. Ensure Emaint process is utilized
  5. Working with Maintenance on repeat rebuilds/parts to identify larger issues
  6. Review Braid Maintenance highbars from Dashboard
  7. Self-starter and proactive approach to Waste

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no formal degree required in most cases 
  • Experience: Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred 
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, basic math skills, and mechanical aptitude 
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, problemsolving, teamwork, and ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs frequently and 80 lbs occasionally, and perform bending, reaching, and fine motor tasks 

Work Environment

Typically, in a manufacturing or textile production setting, the role may involve shift work, overtime, and weekend schedules depending on production needs. The environment can be noisy, require repetitive motions, and involve handling of materials and equipment.

In essence, a Machine Braider Specialist ensures that braiding processes are efficient, products meet quality standards, and operations run safely and smoothly
