Position Summary

The Marketing Operations Specialist, Email & SMS is responsible for the planning, execution, optimization, and reporting of Atlanta United's email and SMS marketing communications. This role serves as a key operational partner across Ticketing, Membership, Premium Sales, Partnerships, Creative Services, Digital Product, and Marketing Operations to deliver timely, accurate, and impactful campaigns that support both brand and revenue objectives.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position manages recurring CRM communications, supports integrated marketing campaigns, oversees the email and SMS editorial calendar, coordinates creative production workflows, develops compelling fan-facing messaging, and helps execute marketing initiatives that drive awareness, engagement, lead generation, ticket sales, and member retention. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for delivering personalized fan experiences through data-driven marketing.

Core ResponsibilitiesCampaign Management
  • Execute recurring and ad hoc email campaigns, including membership communications, ticketing promotions, premium sales initiatives, service messaging, club announcements, and fan engagement efforts.
  • Build, QA, schedule, deploy, and monitor SMS campaigns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate stakeholder reviews, approvals, and deployment schedules across multiple departments.
  • Support audience segmentation, targeting, and personalization strategies to maximize campaign effectiveness and engagement.
  • Ensure all communications align with Atlanta United brand standards, campaign objectives, and organizational priorities.
  • Own and maintain the Email & SMS Editorial Calendar within Monday.com and other project management platforms.
  • Coordinate communication schedules across departments to minimize audience fatigue and prevent overlapping messages or competing offers.
  • Support the development, execution, and optimization of automated lifecycle marketing programs, including new fan onboarding journeys, membership engagement campaigns, renewal initiatives, and other CRM touchpoints.
  • Assist the Integrated Ticket Sales Marketing Team in developing and executing marketing initiatives that increase brand awareness, deepen fan engagement, and generate qualified sales leads.
  • Support the creation and deployment of marketing content across multiple channels, including paid media, email, SMS, digital advertising, and promotional campaigns designed to engage fans, season ticket members, and partners.
  • Write and adapt compelling email and SMS copy that supports campaign objectives, aligns with brand standards, and drives fan engagement, lead generation, conversion, and retention.
  • Serve as a liaison between Brand Marketing, Ticket Sales & Service, Digital Product, Corporate Partnerships, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, manage deliverables, and maintain a consistent brand voice across communications.
  • Analyze fan data, campaign performance metrics, and engagement reports to identify trends, develop actionable insights, and make recommendations that improve marketing and sales outcomes.
  • Develop a strong understanding of omni-channel marketing strategies, fan journeys, audience behavior, and marketing technology platforms to effectively support both business and brand objectives.
  • Support special projects, department initiatives, and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities while proactively communicating updates, identifying risks, and navigating shifting deadlines.
Content Development, Copywriting & Quality Assurance
  • Draft, write, edit, proofread, and distribute email and SMS copy for stakeholder review and approval.
  • Develop engaging, audience-focused messaging that reflects Atlanta United's brand voice and supports ticket sales, membership, fan engagement, partnership, and promotional initiatives.
  • Partner with Creative Services, Digital Product, and other internal teams to manage project requests and ensure timely delivery of campaign assets.
  • Develop comprehensive marketing briefs that clearly define business objectives, target audiences, creative requirements, timelines, deployment plans, and success metrics.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews, including copy validation, audience verification, personalization testing, link testing, creative review, rendering checks, and deployment readiness assessments.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail across all CRM communications and marketing deliverables.
  • Ensure all communications comply with established brand standards, platform best practices, and internal review processes.
Reporting & Insights
  • Monitor campaign performance and key engagement metrics across email and SMS channels.
  • Compile and distribute recurring performance reports that provide meaningful insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve campaign performance through testing, optimization, segmentation, messaging strategy, and audience targeting enhancements.
  • Support ongoing analysis of fan behavior, marketing attribution, and customer lifecycle performance to inform business decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in marketing operations, CRM, lifecycle marketing, digital marketing, content marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience executing email and SMS marketing campaigns.
  • Strong copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences, business objectives, and stages of the fan journey.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working within marketing technology platforms, CRM systems, or marketing automation tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
