Job description

Eaton's Aerospace Division is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer Specialist to join our team. This position is based at our Irvine, CA facility. (Relocation is offered)
The expected annual salary range for this role is $129000 - $190000 a year.

What you'll do:
The Electrical Engineer Specialist will provide expertise for design and development of electronics for both commercial and military aerospace applications. You will have the opportunity to interact with engineers from all disciplines and learn about the future of aviation while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. Some of the platforms you will be working on include fuel gauging systems and nose wheel steering systems, both in production and currently being developed. Like the automotive industry, Aerospace is currently in the process of electrification converting to a "more electric aircraft" that will provide significant environmental and cost benefits. In this function you will:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to electronics design team and electronics suppliers on new development programs for aircraft electronics equipment, from inception to certification, and transfer to production.
  • Drive skill development within the EE team and routinely mentors others in technical area of expertise.
  • Interface with cross-functional development team, program management and customers to ensure overall technical compliance of the product and serves as an expert resource to other engineers.
  • Define electronics architecture based on required functionality, safety and compliance with certification regulations. Technical responsibilities include circuit design, analysis, integration, debugging, establishing test methods and test equipment design. Responsible for quality of design, in terms of cost, performance, DFM, assembly and test.
  • Review project deliverables to ensure accuracy and adherence to schedules and production commitments.
  • Performs design & cost tradeoff studies. Directs product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by responding to internal and external customer requests.
  • Write procurement specifications, conduct vendor design reviews and vendor liaison. Assist purchasing and quality assurance departments in surveys, vendor selections, product evaluation, production support, and component obsolescence issues.
  • Prepare and present technical information for TIM's, PDR's, CDR's etc.
  • Support proposal bids and risk assessment and mitigation for electronic development activities

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Do you have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering and design.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without Company Sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Relocation benefits are being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside or are willing to relocate within (50 miles) of our Irvine, CA facility will be considered.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.

Preferred:
  • Advanced Technical Degree Preferred.
  • Experience with fuel systems, fuel gauging, low power electronics and/or capacitance measurement.
  • Project management experience including schedule, technical risk and cost.
  • Experience with FAA certification.
