We’re seeking a strategic and experienced Editor to take a key leadership role in shaping the creative and commercial success of WEBTOON Originals. This position requires a strong editorial vision, deep understanding of the webcomic medium, and the ability to identify and develop high-potential stories.

A successful Editor will be a strategic force and creative leader, consistently improving title performance through sophisticated editorial input, identifying and nurturing creators with breakout potential, and strengthening scalable editorial frameworks. You will contribute to a diverse and commercially strong Originals slate and demonstrate the leadership, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills needed to elevate the entire Content organization.

Our Editors are responsible not only for managing a slate of titles but also for elevating overall editorial standards, mentoring assistant editors, and contributing to strategic content initiatives across the US Content division.

  • Develop and maintain editorial best-practice frameworks, including evolving Bibles based on platform data, audience insights, and emerging trends.

  • Identify content risks early and propose actionable solutions to maximize title performance.

Creator Collaboration & Relationship Management

  • Work closely with creators to provide high-impact, actionable feedback with sensitivity and professionalism.

  • Support creators in building sustainable production systems, including buffer management, workflow planning, and long-term pacing strategy.

  • Champion the creator experience while balancing the platform’s editorial and business goals.

 Sourcing & Portfolio Strategy

  • Continuously source for unique, diverse, and commercially promising stories that align with WEBTOON’s strategic goals.

  • Review pitches and conduct thorough evaluations using creative judgment plus data-informed analysis.

  • Partner with the Content Strategy team to identify gaps, explore new genres, and evaluate opportunities for flagship-potential titles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align editorial decisions with broader platform goals and corporate strategy.

  • Work closely with:

  • Content Strategy (data insights, sourcing strategy).

  • Marketing/GM (launch planning, FP strategy, growth opportunities).

  • Content Ops (hiatus planning, creator care).

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of editorial experience in webcomics fields (or similar digital narrative formats).

  • Strong understanding of vertical-scroll storytelling, pacing, and audience behavior.

  • Demonstrated ability to guide creators and deliver high-quality editorial feedback.

  • Exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to interpret performance data and incorporate insights into editorial strategy.

  • Passion for WEBTOON, manga, manhwa, genre fiction, and digital storytelling.

Preferred

  • Experience managing high-performing or breakout titles.

  • Familiarity with content production pipelines and creator workflows.

  • Understanding of platform-driven content businesses and monetization models (e.g., Fast Pass, ad-revenue, premium).

  • Cross-team collaboration experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Korean or Japanese language familiarity is a plus but not required.
