1st Shift Printer's Assistant

Job Summary:
Assists the Printer in preparing and printing graphics, load screen and ink in press, keep printing press clean, troubleshooting technical problems, maintaining print equipment, and completing other assigned tasks.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Follow safety procedures and practices outlined on the Safety Placard for each piece of equipment
Understand job traveler and printer’s schedule
Locate materials and inks
Turn on UV unit and set curing rate
Assist with installing/tearing down screens on the press
Catch graphics off the conveyor belt and stack neatly
Assist printer and notify printer to stop if there is a problem
Pre-sort graphics and identify bad graphics
Assist printer as required for the job
Move printed graphics to the next station

Must be able to count accurately
Works in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Works independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
Pays attention to details and escalates issues to the printer
Flexible and proactive to carry out production needs
Efficiency knowledge of procedures/processes

Work Environment:

Cement floor; anti-fatigue mats provided
Clean working environment
May be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Works with chemicals; PPE required at times
Physical Demands:
  • Must reach Level 3 physical capacity test post-hire
  • Occasional walking, sitting, reaching across midline, pinching/picking, feeling, steps in/out of machine, climbing
  • Occasional lifting/lowering, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent changing position, reaching, handling
  • Constant standing
  • Exerts 20–50 lbs. occasionally; 10–25 lbs. frequently; negligible–10 lbs. constantly

Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time; Monday–Friday, minimum 8-hour days. Additional hours may be required to meet customer deadlines.
