Job description

Posting Title: Dissertation Staff: EdD Educational Leadership - Dissertation Chairs and Committee Members
Position Overview: Dissertation Staff are needed to serve as Dissertation Chairs and Committee Members for Ed.D. Educational Leadership students. Content areas include, but are not limited to: Educational leadership in formal schooling, non-formal education, and organizational settings, K-12 leadership, K-12 content specializations foci such as special education, music, athletics, and core curriculum areas, higher education, organizational leadership, change management, policy, action research within educational and organizational leadership, and additional areas related to educational leadership.
Due to the nature of the educational leadership dissertation process, ongoing applications are accepted for review. Candidates will be contacted for an interview when an appropriate opening becomes available. Specific training will be provided upon hire. This is a 2 to 3-year commitment with stipends totaling $2,000 for Chairs and $1,000 for each Committee Member.
Essential Duties:
Dissertation Staff responsibilities include
  • Chairs and Committee Members: Mentor students to meet student learning outcomes for their dissertation, assess student performance, and prepare students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
  • Chairs and Committee Members: Guide students in developing quality dissertation topics, research questions, research designs, proposal development, IRB processes, analysis, writing of findings and the final defense
  • Chairs and Committee Members: Provide written and oral feedback to students through the dissertation process.
  • Chairs and Committee Members: Maintain up-to-date CITI training and adhere to CSP ethical standards and policies
  • Chairs: Lead the committee in supporting the learner through the dissertation milestones
  • Chairs: Provide constructive and substantial feedback in the development of their dissertation proposal, through data collection and analysis, and in completing the final dissertation manuscript.
  • Chairs: Supervise the submission of IRB protocols and the completion of data collection.
Effective Dissertation Chairs and Committee Members may have the opportunity to move into teaching online courses.

Education and Experience:
  • Doctoral degree required
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge within one's discipline
  • Experience with online delivery of education and communication
  • Must be organized, able to meet deadlines, and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Passion for mentoring and supporting future industry leaders
