Job description

Role: Kitchen Assistant & Dishwasher

Reports To: Commons Team Leadership

FLSA: FT, Hourly, Non-Exempt (35 - 40 hours per week)

Role Status: On-site

Schedule: Mondays, Thursdays - Sundays 8am - 4:30pm

Duties:

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to cook's line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
  • Wash pots, pans and trays by hand.
  • Prepares trays for incoming order tickets with silverware, napkins, etc that are appropriate for each order. Ladles out soup/popcorn for orders as appropriate for each tray that requires it.
  • Ensures communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes and calling out names/number of completed dishes to visitors when there is a back-up of outgoing orders.
  • Informs the Front of House Associates when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the Café Associate to the kitchen.
  • Performing the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges.
  • Promotes a safe and clean service environment by supporting Grace Farms sanitation and cleanliness standards.
  • Remove trash and garbage to dumpster.
  • Sweep up trash around exterior of restaurant and garbage dumpster daily.
  • Communicates on a high level with the kitchen team to expedite customer orders.
  • Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Assisting the front of the house and back of the house staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to maintain high-energy throughout the day, and ability to remain calm, friendly and unflustered during high volume periods of operations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions in English.
  • Able to count accurately.
  • Able to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Highest level of integrity defined as being incredibly ethical, professional, responsible, truthful, authentic, honest, and fair.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience required, and food/beverage service preferred.
  • Previous food, beverage, and kitchen experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, climb stairs, and stand for long periods of time.

Compensation: $20 per hour
