Department Summary
The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Office is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing effective and meaningful financial aid assistance. FAS is responsible for processing financial aid applications, administrating various financial aid programs, and providing financial aid counseling to students and their families.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for the operational management of an assigned team within Financial Aid and Scholarships (FAS). Duties include oversight of daily operations, internal and external communications, development and implementation of departmental assessments/measures of initiatives and programs, and regulatory compliance monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in MS Office. In depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate. Ability to problem solve, multitask and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Ability to effectively communicate. Develops and maintains effective working relationships. Remains current in profession.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in financial aid administration.Thorough knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations related to functional area.Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).Prior supervisory experience.Prior experience with PeopleSoft.Strong problem solving skills.Strong critical thinking skills.Ability to communicate effectively with populations verbally and in writing.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Obtain clearance to NSLDS within 30 days of hire.
Job Duties
  • Supervise, mentor, and train the Case Management and Quality Assurance Team within the Financial Aid and Scholarship (FAS) office.
  • Manage and document the Financial Aid and Scholarship quality assurance process for financial aid award adjustments due to changes in enrollment, aid received, and/or eligibility for aid program/(s).
  • Manage and document the Financial Aid and Scholarship case management process for internal and external customer service support and financial aid counseling.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of financial aid and applicable customer service staff regarding the financial aid and scholarship application process and eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarships.
  • Serve as main pointofcontact for internal and external Financial Aid and Scholarship (FAS) presentation and event request. Coordinate staff schedule for events.
  • Manages the case management escalation process and works with FAS leadership team to help ensure timely resolution.
