Job Qualifications:
  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in ECE, child development or related field
  • 3 units related to infant care plus
  • 3 units related to Adult Supervision
  • 3 Units related to Administration
  • 3+ years of teaching experience in child care setting

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director shall be responsible for assisting the Director with the operation of the Center and compliance with CA state and The Learning Experience (TLE) regulations.
The Assistant Director assists with providing and coordinating the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the Center, the philosophy and policies of The Learning Experience (TLE).
The Assistant Director of TLE is a member of the Management Team, and reports to the Center Director. The Assistant Director shall not accept outside employment that interferes with the duties of the Center.
Assistant Director Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Center Director in leading teaching staff, supporting families, and achieving enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives
  • Partners with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for their children
  • Cultivates positive relationships with families, teachers, CA state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners
  • Serves in various roles throughout the center as needed including teacher, cook and/or driver
  • Ensures and facilitates smooth functioning of all aspects of the Center in order to best serve children and families
  • Works closely with the Owner and the Center Director of TLE to ensure the efficient administrative operation of the Center
  • Will maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area
  • Will maintain stock cleanliness of infirmary according to CA state regulations
  • Will ensure the cleaning of center laundry
  • Will maintain clean floors by sweeping, mopping and vacuuming as needed
  • Maintain clean walls in the classroom
  • Assists Director in ensuring that licensing requirements are met at all times
  • Maintains accurate sign-in and sign-out attendance records of children
  • Helps to coordinate staff scheduling within approved teacher-child ratios; schedules and assigns staff breaks
  • Assists with ensuring that TLE curriculum, lesson plans are implemented and current in each classroom
  • Ensures that all bulletin boards are nicely decorated and current
  • Assists with ensuring that each classroom is running smoothly, following and implementing all CA state and TLE requirements (feeding, diapering, toy baths, clean, neat rooms, etc.)
  • Assists with supervision of "Safe and Secure" app for each classroom
  • Provides supervision, leadership and support to all Center staff
  • Assists with the facilitation of the recruitment and coordinates, assists in the hiring and orientation of all new staff to the Center, within TLE-approved processes and polices
  • Consults, supports and provides guidance to teaching staff in evaluating and revising children's programming as required
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parents; facilities or directly provides mediation and resolution to minor parent-program conflicts which arise
  • Assists Director with regular liaison and communication, as required and applicable, with third parties, including custodial service, maintenance services, etc.
  • Markets the Center to prospective client-parents, within TLE standards
  • Gives tours, and assists with follow-up with potential client-parents
  • In collaboration with the teaching team, assists in with the placement, orientation and evaluation of students at TLE
  • Is an active, contributing member of TLE's Management Team, providing input to the Director and Owner on policy and other matters affecting the Center. Assists in the dissemination of key messages on decisions made by the Management Team to Center staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Represents TLE by participation on committees in the Child Care Community
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of the Center
  • Professional appearance is required at all times
  • Performs duties & routine to open or close the Center
  • The Owner reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
