Job Summary
To assist the Director of Nursing with all departmental duties to ensure the facility residents receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Registered Nurse prefered

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling and assignment of nursing staff
  • Assist with nursing care on shift, as needed
  • Promote employee satisfaction by providing staff with the opportunity to express their concerns and resolve disputes
  • Assist in the supervision the maintenance of facility medical records
  • Monitor staff compliance with Policy and Procedures and Nursing Practice Protocols (I.e. rounding, medication reviews, medication pass rounds, enteral
    feeding/medication pass, etc.)
  • Evaluate performance of Nursing Staff for probationary period, annually and as needed
  • Assure resident care needs are met and resident rights ensured
  • Supervise all admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents
  • Monitor documentation of medical records for accuracy
  • Assist with CQI and ensure follow-up for issues identified
  • Assist with coordination of mediation for Residents / Families and Multidisciplinary Team to resolve care issues and/or complaints
  • Quarterly CQI Meeting, and other committee meeting as assigned
  • Assist DON in the provision of a monthly in-service training to all nursing department staff; maintain records of all such in-service training
  • Assist DON in performing monthly Chart Audits and thinning of charts
  • Coordinate monitoring of Resident weights and Dietitian recommendations
  • Coordinate Pharmacy recommendations and monitor monthly review
  • Assist DON in the review all closed resident charts (discharge / death) for Risk Management issues
  • Obtain certification approval for Oxygen therapy for Residents
  • Assist DON in maintenance of adequate staffing levels
  • Assist DON with employee counseling, as needed
  • Assist DON with the development of department Policy and Procedures and Nurse Practice Protocols. Review and update Policies and Protocols with DON and Administrator on an annual basis and as needed
  • Serve as Infection Control Nurse
  • Assist Investigative Team with follow-up review/investigation for all reports of abuse, etc
  • Coordinate Fall Committee meetings
