Job description

The Big Ten Conference is seeking an Assistant Director, Creative Services to support the creation and execution of compelling visual content that enhances the Conference's brand, events, championships, and marketing initiatives. This newly created position will play a key role in meeting the growing demand for graphic design, motion graphics, and creative marketing assets while helping expand the Conference's in-house creative capabilities.
The Assistant Director will develop a wide range of creative materials across digital, print, social media, event marketing, ticketing, advertising, presentations, and video platforms. This individual will work closely with internal departments, external partners, and member institutions to deliver innovative and impactful creative solutions that engage fans and support Conference objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic Design & Marketing Creative
  • Create and produce marketing collateral for Big Ten championships, tournaments, events, and year-round initiatives.
  • Design print and digital advertising materials, email marketing assets, ticketing promotions, event signage, and social media graphics.
  • Support Conference marketing campaigns through creative asset development across multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Ensure creative materials align with Big Ten brand standards and strategic objectives.

Motion Graphics & Video Production
  • Develop motion graphics and video content for event presentation, digital platforms, advertising campaigns, web content, and social media channels.
  • Assist with creative storytelling through video and animated content that enhances fan engagement and promotes Conference initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on creative concepts and production execution.

Presentation Development
  • Create, update, and maintain professional PowerPoint presentations and visual materials for internal meetings, external stakeholder presentations, and Conference initiatives.
  • Ensure presentation materials remain visually compelling, consistent, and aligned with the Conference brand.

Licensing Program Administration
  • Manage day-to-day approvals and creative reviews within the Big Ten licensing portal.
  • Collaborate with licensing partners and internal stakeholders to ensure brand standards are maintained across licensed products and materials.
  • Monitor approval workflows and provide timely feedback to partners and vendors.

Event Support & Activations
  • Assist with creative and marketing needs associated with Big Ten championships, tournaments, and special events.
  • Support marketing activations throughout the Big Ten footprint, including football championship initiatives, College Football Playoff activities, and other Conference events.
  • Attend select events to assist with on-site creative needs and brand execution.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, visual arts, or a related field is preferred
  • 2+ years of professional experience in graphic design, creative services, marketing, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic design, branding, social media, and motion graphics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of sports marketing, event promotion, and fan engagement strategies is preferred.
