Job description

Scheduled Hours37.5Position SummaryPrimary responsibility for creating, editing, and writing print and digital communications for the Annual Fund. Mentor and supervise two writers who report directly to the incumbent. Execute the strategic plan for all direct marketing in each fiscal year, working in close collaboration with the direct marketing and participation team. Assign and review all copywriting, photography, artwork, and printer proofs of direct marketing materials to meet strict deadlines. Cultivate and strengthen relationships with colleagues involved in the Annual Fund. Ensure that all communications conform to the university's graphics and style standards and the highest level of excellence. Contribute to overall communications strategies and support the assistant vice chancellor of Advancement Communications.Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Writing and research

  • Primary responsibility for creating, writing, editing, and proofreading print and digital solicitations up to $10,000 per year for the Annual Fund.
  • Plan, write, edit, and proofread solicitations and stewardship materials for Annual Fund donors of up to $100,000 per year, including Eliot Society Patrons and members of the Danforth Circle.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief of all content produced for Annual Fund solicitations.

Project management

  • Primary responsibility for producing materials in the annual direct marketing schedule.
  • Collaborate closely with direct marketing and participation team to ensure deadlines are met and processes understood.
  • Review all direct mail materials produced by direct reports, including printer proofs, and provide feedback in a timely manner.

Administrative

  • Recruit and oversee two direct reports.
  • Act as a mentor to build a strong team with outstanding skills.
  • Prepare annual summary of work volume for the direct marketing team.

Creative and planning

  • Collaborate with Annual Giving to develop the strategic plan and schedule for all direct marketing solicitations.
  • Develop creative concepts for direct marketing projects.
  • Work directly with the direct marketing and participation team to coordinate workflow across the direct marketing program.

Perform other duties as assigned.
