Position
Department Chair(ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Related Arts, 6th Grade, and CTE)
Immediate Supervisor
Principal and Director of Secondary Curriculum Director
Salary
$1000 per school year
Employment Term
200 Days
Required Qualifications
  • WV Professional Teaching Certificate for the subject area at the 6-12 grade level.
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
  • Criminal Background check conducted pursuant to SCS BOE Policy IV-G-4.
  • Drug Test conducted pursuant to SCS BOE Policy IV-H-1

Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the department representative on the school leadership team and attend leadership team meetings.
  • Be the contact person for that department
  • Work with school and county leadership to coordinate department Professional Learning Community Meetings
  • Schedule and attend all departmental PLC meetings
  • Lead in the collection and analysis of data.
  • Assist PLC teams in the implementation of data-driven classroom instruction.
  • Ensure PLC meeting agendas are prepared and minutes recorded and submitted on time.
  • Provide leadership in advancing district and school improvement initiatives.
  • Provide reports as requested by the school and district administration.
  • Complete required school and district-level documentation.
  • As requested by department teachers, provide coaching and support.
  • Provide leadership in textbook selection during the assigned adoption cycle.
  • Stay abreast of best teaching practices in the assigned content area.
