Job Overview
The Seasonal Costume Production Assistant prepares and distributes stock costumes, manages shipments, and supports the Costume Shop team with various tasks. This role involves assisting with event logistics, costume setup, delivery, and overseeing dressing areas during events. This role may begin part time, but will transition to full time as workload increases nearer to Thanksgiving.
What You Will Do
  • Supervise or assist in preparing large quantities of stock costumes for efficient distribution and collection
  • Assist in preparing batch shipments of UPS packages
  • Support Costume Shop Managers and the Costume Director with tasks such as moving boxes, managing inventory, answering phones, running errands, office administration, laundering costume pieces, shop cleanup, and performing small sewing/repairs/craft projects
  • Assist with load-in/load-out, setup, and strike for events, including handling laundry and costume delivery
  • Supervise or assist with managing dressing areas on event dates
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities

Skills You Will Need
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage and coordinate large quantities of costumes and shipments effectively
Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work well with others and support team members, including handling various tasks and interacting with managers and directors
Event Logistics: Experience or capability in assisting with load-in/load-out, setup, and strike for events, as well as managing dressing areas
Basic Administrative Skills: Proficiency in basic math, writing, and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Sewing and Fabric Maintenance: Basic sewing/garment repair skills and knowledge of fabric cleaning and maintenance processes are preferred
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or pull 40 lbs. or more multiple times a day
Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to various situations and work environments, including off-site locations
Transportation: Reliable personal or public transportation to the Moonachie, NJ location is necessary
Who You Are
  • Experience in stage management, theatre, fashion show, event production, or dresser skills preferred
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
    • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 40 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
    • May involve reaching above eye level
    • Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, overtime, and Thanksgiving Day, based on department and company needs
