This on-site, in-person role that will provide hands-on support to faculty and campus leadership within the nursing skills lab. Please note: this is not a faculty role and this is not a simulation-based role. 

Qualifications:

  • BSN required

  • Active, unencumbered Florida RN license

  • Availability to work 8-12 hours per week 

$35/hr.

What You'll Do:

The Skills Lab Assistant role provides instructional guidance and support for students during clinical skills labs under the direct supervision of a Master's-prepared Core Faculty member or MSN-prepared Lab Manager. This key position plays a vital role in supporting student academic success by assisting students in laboratory settings to meet specific student learning outcomes. The Skills Lab Assistant is responsible for reinforcing instruction and communication of student performance to the lead course faculty.

What You'll Do: 

  • Support Nursing Faculty to coordinate skills laboratory classes.
  • Assist with setting up skills labs to facilitate effective academic sessions.
  • Assist students in applying knowledge and competencies to care for patients/clients in the lab setting.
  • Provide feedback on student progress of course learning outcomes.
  • Be readily available to assist students with questions and guidance.
  • Adhere to standards and safety protocols in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Deliver hands-on support and reinforcement of nursing skills in labs under the direction and guidance of Master's prepared nursing faculty.
  • Collaborate with Core Faculty to ensure lab sessions reinforce didactic and clinical learning objectives.
  • Prepare and organize skills lab stations and ensure the availability and proper functioning of equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Guide students in practicing nursing procedures, ensuring adherence to proper technique and patient safety standards.
  • Provide individual and small group support to reinforce instruction and offer clarification as needed.
  • Assist with lab setup and debrief preparation as directed.
  • Maintain the skills lab in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement and professionalism.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, or workshops that support instructional continuity and student success initiatives.
  • Uphold the College's academic and conduct policies in all lab-related activities.

**The Skills Lab Assistant are licensed nurses working under the direction and supervision of nursing Faculty/Lab Managers.

Must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
  • Active, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of employment.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of RN-level clinical experience relevant to the area(s) of responsibility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and students.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with nursing or similar lab equipment.
