Job description

Responsible for assuring accurate material, labor, and overhead standards are used for costing purposes. This role is responsible for various functions and tasks to assist with closing each fiscal month as well as year-end. The Senior Accountant will monitor the general ledger transactions and prepare various reports for the management team. This person will be required to work with various departments and Chief divisions. They will also oversee capital expenditure transactions. The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated self-starter who pays close attention to detail and has the ability to think critically to evaluate the validity of data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Updating material cost standards and monitor and update labor and overhead rates to provide Management with timely, accurate, and concise cost accounting reports necessary for decision making purposes.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved properly.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate fixed assets lists, including an annual audit of fixed assets and managing CIP projects.
  • Responsible for multiple key performance indicator reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Conduct variance analysis of actual versus budgeted expenses and provide explanations for discrepancies.
  • Provide regular financial analysis to management, including profitability and cost analysis.
  • Handle special costing projects, analysis of operations results and data processing reports as needed to ensure management informational needs are met in a timely, effective manner.
  • Assisting the Controller with month and year-end close procedures and completion of financial reports
  • Review and analyze manufacturing expenses and identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist Controller with costing model, internal process audits, and process improvement projects.
  • Assist with the Annual Operating Budget, budget reports and annual audit including preparing audit work papers.
  • Initiate more efficient and accurate methods for Chief Agri accounting processes.
  • Monitors and corrects posting transactions in ERP system.
  • Serve as backup to A/P and A/R when necessary.

Education:
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferred.
  • CPA, CGMA, or CMA, preferred.
