FULL OR PART-TIME HOURS:
  • Full Time: Average 4-5 shifts/week

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
The Assistant Manager is responsible for cultivating the Snow School vision 'to be the most welcoming, friendly, and fun mountain community, inspiring a lifelong love of winter adventure'. This includes optimizing on-hill programming, training content and financial performance of the Ski & Snowboard School. They will work in cooperation with departmental leaders to ensure that the training content and standard operating procedures are both manageable for staff and are in accordance with the safety and service standard goals of these departments. The Assistant Manager will assist the Manager in capturing, analyzing and interpreting business data for the purposes of budgeting and business planning. In conjunction with the Administration Supervisor, they will also be responsible for the efficient and accurate execution of the scheduling and payroll systems.
  • Prepare, execute and document a comprehensive training plan for the department. This includes all mandatory training as per the Ministry of Labour (MOL).
  • Set clear expectations for staff, motivate, coach, & recognize great performance. Implementing new policies and procedures and ensuring compliance.
  • Monitor delivery of products and ensure quality meets the standards set by the department and the company.
  • Assist Administrator Supervisor to provide daily support of all Snow School employees; ensure the accuracy and timeliness of Payroll, support point of sale development and product management and monitoring schedules.
  • Control labour costs including monitoring and making recommendations on schedules according to budget and business levels; Assist with daily financial monitoring, reporting and action response.
  • Coordination of accident/incident procedures along with documentation.
  • Develop & maintain strong, positive working relationships with all Blue Mountain departments; specifically, Guest Services & Rentals, Group Services, Grooming & Snowmaking, Lift Operations, and Food & Beverage.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
  • 3-5 years of previous ski and/or snowboard instructing experience.
  • Experienced CSIA/CASI Level II, III or IV.
  • Completed post-secondary education in Commerce/Business or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years people management experience required. Preference given to leadership experience within the Recreation industry/Blue Mountain.
