Job description

The Assistant Content Manager plays a critical role in breaking down newsroom silos, driving real-time content strategy, and ensuring consistent, high-quality storytelling that maximizes audience reach and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily content strategy and execution across all platforms, including broadcast, digital, and socialΒ 
  • Lead multiplatform storytelling by ensuring content is created and adapted intentionally for each platformΒ 
  • Serve as the central point of coordination between the assignment desk, producers, reporters, and digital teamsΒ 
  • Make real-time editorial decisions on story placement, prioritization, publishing, and distributionΒ 
  • Manage and coordinate breaking news coverage across platforms, including alerts, streaming, and on-air integrationΒ 
  • Ensure editorial consistency in messaging, tone, and brand voice across all content channelsΒ 
  • Monitor audience analytics and apply insights to inform editorial decisions and optimize content performanceΒ 
  • Identify opportunities to extend the life and reach of high-performing contentΒ 
  • Coordinate newsroom workflows to reduce duplication of effort and improve operational efficiencyΒ 
  • Support a continuous publishing model, ensuring timely and consistent content updatesΒ 
  • Collaborate with newsroom leadership to align content strategy with organizational goals and initiativesΒ 

Qualifications

  • Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news valuesΒ 
  • Demonstrated experience with multiplatform content productionΒ 
  • Proven ability to make quick, effective decisions in high-pressure and breaking news environmentsΒ 
  • Deep understanding of digital platforms, social media, and audience engagement strategiesΒ 
  • Experience using analytics tools to guide content decisionsΒ 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teamsΒ 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyΒ
