Assistant Construction Manager | Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

As our Assistant Construction Manager for our Construction Management Team in the San Francisco Bay Area, you'll help deliver some of Northern California's most significant water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working as an owner's representative, you'll support multi-million-dollar capital improvement programs involving treatment plant upgrades, pipelines, pump stations, and recycled water facilities that improve public health, environmental sustainability, and long-term system reliability. You'll collaborate with public agencies, contractors, engineers, and stakeholders while gaining valuable experience on complex heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects from construction through completion. Our CM team members work on site daily; therefore, candidates must reside locally and/or be able to make the daily commute. This particular opening is to work on multi-year projects in Sunnyvale and/or Union City. Future assignments may vary.

What You'll Do

As our Assistant Construction Manager, you'll support the successful delivery of complex water, wastewater, and public infrastructure projects while serving as a key liaison between owners, contractors, designers, and stakeholders.

  • Construction Oversight & Owner Representation Support field construction activities on large-scale capital improvement projects, overseeing contractor performance, quality, safety, schedule adherence, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Contract Administration & Construction Documentation Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, meeting documentation, and project correspondence to support effective project controls and contract administration.
  • Project Tracking & Risk Management Monitor project schedules, budgets, and construction progress while identifying potential risks, conflicts, and delays and supporting timely resolutions.
  • Stakeholder Coordination & Client Support Work closely with public agency clients, contractors, design consultants, utility providers, and regulatory stakeholders to maintain alignment and facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Field Engineering & Problem Solving Participate in construction meetings, evaluate field conditions, support issue resolution, and contribute to practical solutions that keep projects moving forward.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM); or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with the ability to obtain professional licensure within two years
  • 5+ years of experience supporting construction management, resident engineering, owner's representative services, or design of public works, water/wastewater, or heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience with water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, recycled water systems, pipelines, pump stations, industrial facilities, power generation, petrochemical, or similar process infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of construction administration, contract documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project controls for municipal projects
  • Experience supporting large-scale public infrastructure projects and/or capital improvement programs is highly desirable
  • Ability to work on-site in active construction environments, including walking uneven surfaces, climbing, and exposure to varying site conditions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $135,200 - $168,480 /annually (commensurate with experience)
