Our colorectal surgeons are world leaders in treating benign and cancerous diseases of the colon and rectum.We have the largest colorectal surgery center in Florida, and our surgeons have an international reputation for excellence.We diagnose and treat any type of colon or rectal condition and perform complex reoperations afterpreviouscolorectal surgery. Our specialists provide colonoscopy, colorectal cancer surgery,enterostomalcare, HPV-related anal disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) surgery, laparoscopic and robotic colon and rectal surgery, ileal pouch (J-pouch) surgery, pelvic floor disorder diagnosis,therapiesand surgery,transanalendoscopic microsurgery (TEM) andtransanalminimally invasive surgery (TAMIS).
By joining the team as an RN,you willassistfellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, frominitialintroduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients,familiesand visitorsthrough rooming patients, scheduling surgical procedures, in-basketsand more.Here, you will also have the chance to cross-train in other specialties, giving you another avenue in which to thrive.Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works Monday - Friday from8:00AM - 4:30PM or 8:30AM - 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
Perform telephone triage.
Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings.
Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient,familyand health care team.
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
Assistwith specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Cover other nursing roles within the department.
Develop, evaluate,adaptand document education to learning needs.
Provide health education to patients and families.
Participate in quality initiatives, processimprovementsand research activities to improve patient outcomes, patientexperienceand patient safety.
Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) -requiredwithin three years of hire
Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
- Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
