Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Endoscopy (Full Time-Days)
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal and pulmonary endoscopic procedures. The RN is responsible for pre-procedure assessment, procedural assistance, moderate sedation monitoring, post-procedure recovery, patient education, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
  • Perform pre-procedure nursing assessments including medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergies, and patient preparation.
  • Administer and monitor moderate sedation in accordance with hospital policies and state regulations.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, bronchoscopy, ERCP, and other specialty procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, airway status, and overall condition throughout procedures and recovery.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to complications or emergency situations.
  • Provide post-procedure monitoring, discharge instructions, and patient/family education.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and care of endoscopy equipment in collaboration with sterile processing and infection prevention standards.
  • Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, technicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing education.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional nursing standards.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • DC RN License required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • SGNA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous Endoscopy, GI Lab, Procedural, PACU, ICU, or Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Experience with moderate sedation preferred.
