• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations in the outpatient setting.
• Evaluate and manage patients with common gastrointestinal conditions, including:Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD),Dyspepsia,Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS),Constipation and diarrhea,Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),Gastrointestinal bleeding and anemia,Colorectal cancer screening and surveillance needs.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, pathology, imaging, and endoscopic findings.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
• Serve as a clinical resource to improve patient access to screening and surveillance colonoscopy services.
• Facilitate timely colorectal cancer screening in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
• Support physicians by identifying patients appropriate for endoscopic procedures.
• Facilitate scheduling of colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and other GI procedures.
• Review patient histories, medications, risk factors, and pre-procedure requirements to ensure procedural readiness.
• Support care coordination across primary care, specialty care, and ancillary services.
• Partner closely with gastroenterologists to improve clinic efficiency and optimize patient throughput.
• Contribute to implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required OR
• Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program Required
• NPC - Certified Nurse Practitioner Required and
• Licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse Required or
• Licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within 60 Days Required
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
