Job description

SUMMARY

The Member Services Representative isresponsible for accurately entering Member tilted sales orders, managing customer service issues, and supporting the UniPro Centralized Billing programs. This position plays a key role in the sales and marketing process for the department, communicating information and program details to assigned Members toward providing excellent customer service support. This position will also drive accuracy and break down business barriers to facilitate volume and earned income growth for Member participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receive, input, code, process and confirm UniPro Member centralized billing orders for canned goods, frozen fruits and vegetables, and bulk sugar or commodity beef, commodity pork, seafood and poultry.
  • Ensure that established guidelines and procedures for order entry are followed; Minimizes and eliminates coding and processing errors which may have a financial impact on business.

  • Represents assigned Members to resolve all order issues, and or issues associated with any invoiced charges involving product, pricing, allowances, freight, etc.

  • As directed by Category Managers or Members apply earned income values to orders.

  • Work to influence Members to increase Member participation in canned, frozen and sugar centralized billing programs by monitoring member purchases on a weekly basis and identifying new sales opportunities; communicates status information to Supervisor. *Account Representative may be asked to process orders for additional product categories.

  • Work to influence Members to increase Member participation in beef, pork, and seafood tilted sales programs by monitoring member purchases on a weekly basis and identifying new sales opportunities; communicates status information to Supervisor. *Account Representative may be asked to process orders for additional product categories.

  • Understand and enforce internal and external claims guidelines and procedures.

  • Communicate order status information to Members on a timely basis and communicate shortages/substitutions as early as possible.

  • Arrange transportation requirements of Member orders with Logistics personnel and assist in the coordination of pool truck shipments to maximize delivery efficiency.

  • Provide Members with information regarding industry trends, market conditions, deals, and UniPro Purchasing Allowance (UPA) programs while monitoring Member participation.

  • Assist accounts receivable and accounts payable department personnel on all aspects of billing resolutions and "pass throughs".

  • Assist Canned, Frozen, and Grocery Departmental personnel with merchandising new programs and spot buys, maintaining up-to-date pricing, solicitation of replenishment, and managing Member commitments.

OR

  • Assist COP Departmental personnel with merchandising new programs and spot buys, clearing Block and Rake Buys, maintaining up-to-date pricing, solicitation of replenishment, and managing Member commitments.

  • Communicate daily with Suppliers on Member orders to insure timely deliveries.

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED

Reports directly to Member Services Supervisor - Commodity Protein

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS

Internal contact with Unipro personnel in Category Management, Member Development, Logistics, Finance & Accounting, Quality Assurance, and Marketing.

External contact with assigned Members and Supplier partners.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • May be required to participate as attendee of training programs to increase product knowledge and develop sales skills.

  • May be required to travel to Member food shows and/or UniPro Purchasing Conferences and company events on a limited basis (<5%).

  • May be required to participate in special projects as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required, with minimum three years sales or customer service experience preferred. Some college or business school attendance preferred. Knowledge of product specifications and quality control in the foodservice industry preferred. Intermediate proficiency in database management and Windows suite of office applications. Ability to independently solve problems and see them through to resolution. Possess excellent organizational and communication skills and an assertive personality and be able to work in a fast-paced team environment consisting of various departments and personnel.
