Position: Cable Assembler

Location: Florham Park, NJ

Pay: $20.50/hour

Job Description

The Cable Assembler manufactures high-quality cable assemblies and harnesses by interpreting assembly drawings, operating specialized cable processing equipment, and performing precise hand operations such as cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and labeling. The role focuses on meeting defined production schedules, maintaining equipment, and supporting continuous improvement and quality initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings to accurately produce cable harnesses and assemblies.
  • Perform a full range of cable harnessing activities, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, wiring, and labeling.
  • Program cable assembly machines to the required settings for cutting, stripping, and crimping operations.
  • Use appropriate hand tools to complete assembly, crimping, soldering, and wiring tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all preventive maintenance is completed on time.
  • Conduct self-inspection of assemblies to ensure zero-defect quality and support final inspection activities with the quality control team as needed.
  • Actively participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Just-in-Time practices, Poka-yoke, and related process improvement activities.
  • Manufacture cable assemblies to meet defined schedules and support on-time shipment to customers.
  • Assist in complying with environmental regulations by segregating and recycling cable, PVC, and metal scrap according to established environmental management procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, balancing individual and team responsibilities and supporting others to achieve shared goals.

Essential Skills

  • 1 year of progressive responsibility in manufacturing cable assemblies using automatic and semi-automatic machines, hand tools, and soldering operations.
  • Proficiency in cable assembly processes including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, wiring, and labeling.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools safely and accurately in an assembly environment.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks or projects.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter and use time efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Commitment to quality, including the ability to self-inspect work and apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Understanding and adherence to safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting others and contributing to shared success.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
