Job description

Master the Terrain: Project Surveyor / Assistant Land Surveyor (PLS)

Location: El Paso, Texas | Type: Full-Time, Salaried | Setting: Field & Office Leadership

Who We Are

We are a premier, 100% employee-owned Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firm with a 50-year legacy of delivering landmark public and private sector projects. Because we are entirely employee-owned, our team members aren't just staff-they are co-owners who hold a direct equity stake in the company's financial success. We pair a collaborative, family-style office culture with the resource engine of a national industry leader.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a licensed Project Surveyor / Assistant Land Surveyor (PLS) to take command of our geospatial and surveying operations in El Paso.

This is a high-impact leadership role blending advanced field tech with office operations. You will manage elite field crews, oversee cutting-edge drone and robotic workflows, and spearhead high-accuracy platting and boundary efforts. If you are a Texas PLS ready to step out of the backseat and truly run a division with direct ownership perks, this is your next move.

Technical Command & Crew Leadership

  • Command the Fleet: Directly manage and mentor a dedicated group of 5 Senior Survey Party Chiefs and field assistants, ensuring safety, accuracy, and professional growth.
  • Advanced Geospatial Tech: Oversee cutting-edge workflows including aerial drone mapping (ortho-imagery), 3D scanning, robotic total stations, and high-precision GPS networks.
  • Data & Drafting Leadership: Drive CADD drafting efforts for complex boundary, ALTA, topographic, and public/private platting projects. Masterfully process data utilizing Trimble Business Center and Autodesk Civil 3D .
  • Quality & Logistics: Handle data ingestion/export between field crews and the office, maintain high-end instrumentation, and enforce strict Quality Control (QC) metrics before final signing.
  • Project Liaison: Partner directly with multi-discipline Project Managers to deliver high-accuracy construction staking and mapping packages on time and within scope.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Licensure: Must be a registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of Texas .
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure experience spanning boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction surveys.
  • The Hardware/Software Toolkit: Deep proficiency with Trimble field equipment, Trimble data collectors, Trimble Business Center, and Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Education: Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Leadership Style: Highly motivated, detail-obsessed, with excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between field crews and executive stakeholders.
  • Credentials: valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Equity, Benefits & Perks

We take immense pride in taking care of our co-owners:

  • Dual Retirement Tracking: Build long-term wealth via our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) plus matching 401(k) plan.
  • Premium Health Coverage: Top-tier Client Client PPO medical, dental, and vision insurance, alongside MDLive Telehealth access.
  • True Work-Life Balance: Generous paid vacation/annual leave, dedicated sick leave, and 8 paid holidays.
  • Professional Elevation: Tuition reimbursement, professional society fees, and state registration renewals fully covered.
  • Extra Mile Perks: Employer-paid short/long-term disability, comprehensive life/AD&D insurance, commuter benefits, and frequent team-building events.

Physical & Environmental Realities

This role represents true full-lifecycle surveying, meaning you split time between an office setting and the rugged West Texas elements:

  • Comfortable working at a technical workstation for data processing and drafting.
  • Ready to occasionally head into the field, hike uneven or steep terrain, and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs of surveying equipment (including setting monuments, staking, and using brush-clearing tools when necessary).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
